G'day Nick,

sRGB is the internet standard for displaying images in web browsers. Some web browsers like Firefox etc can call ICC profiles to give the best disply results for images. If the ICC profile is not available, the browser is supposed to fallback to sRGB.

As for uploading photo's to a photolab for printing, I'd check first what profiles they want, as if you send the incorrect profile, then the image may not look correct.

For displaying images on the net, it's best to save the image as an sRGB. If you have the option to save with ICC Profile as well, then that will allow different browsers to display the image at it's best.

In camera it's better to have the colour profile as sRGB as this is the standard. I have checked using both aRGB and sRGB, and the image looks the same in camera, on computer, but when displayed in a web browser, colour is completely different and flat.

Regards,
Craig

Hi Craig, im using Elements 9 and it does not allow you to save with different profiles other than sRGB or aRGB, i have spoken to a couple of printing companys, one said use aRGB and then another said sRGB. Also i beleive for camera settings that if you shoot in RAW it doesnt matter which colour profile is set...Is that right?

G'day Nick,

It's really up to you and your workflow process whether you use sRGB or aRGB in the camera as the colour profile can be changed in PP, but if you dont intend to do alot of PhotoLab printing, then why introduce another step in your workflow if you dont need to for all. As for colour differences in camera, there isnt any, its to do with printing and browser displaying.

As I mentioned that I did try both profiles in camera, but when displaying any photo online need to change to sRGB if it was aRGB.

I'm not familiar with PS Elements, but I assume that the menu structure would be similiar to that is Photoshop.

The sRGB is on the Image Menu > Mode > sRGB.
For aRGB on the Edit Menu > Colour Settings > Working Spaces > RGB > DropDown > Adobe RGB.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Craig
